Project: Cultural integration in the villages around Sibiu

During the 6 week period 3rd August - 2th September the Kinderbauernhof in the village of Rusciori will host all the artists involved in the events from European House of Arts. They will be a part of the picturesque village life as well as the Cultural Capitals vibrant presence in 2007. There will be an alternate, but continuous group of artists dwelling in the village during the day to build up a cultural confidence among the remotest of the villagers; and those that may never venture to the events of Sibiu/Hermannstadt under normal circumstances can feel and understand more of the importance and presence of cultural events. They can integrate this into their every day understanding of the quality of life and thus feel the international cultural presence brought to them by the European Cultural Capital, their cultural capital Sibiu/hermannstadt. The artists will not only help share and experience this presence, but also entice the inhabitants to take part in workshops of different kinds. Painting, sculpturing, dancing, music and theatre are artistic values we as artists can apply and share to bring out the social vein in the participating people and it is indeed the participants who will finally create the real values of European integration with joy, happiness and desire.
The pillars of cultural integration are clearly stated here: Integration, participation, and creation.

The participants can be young or old, Romanian or foreign. There are simply no limits to who can be creative. These workshops are not to win a diploma, but to gain shared values, personal happiness and to promote integration.

With the Kinderbauernhof we have found a strong partner along with the Mayor of Sura Mica/Rusciori to not only reduce resentments in the different ethnic groups, but together assist in the integration of the villages into the local and international, European cultural and social life.

It is also the aim of the project to bring the children out from Sibiu/Hermannstadt and the other surrounding towns and villages for the day to create a platform for the children to create and design their art and ideas on the Cultural Capital, or simply have fun with the village surroundings.

Workshops are from Monday to Friday from 6th August until 31th August. Concerts, respectively theatre performances will take place each weekend from Friday 3rd August until 9th September.
